5 reasons to start a business in 2021

December 29, 2020

1. Covid

If 2020 taught us anything, one of those things should be that nothing is certain. Last year saw us watch the world stop and well-known household businesses collapse in front of our eyes.

As long-term employees were furloughed (a word we had not previously heard of), or lost their jobs, one thing was sure, individuals and families had to think of a Plan B.

As we enter 2021 that uncertainty is still there as covid is still present and the global economy has not yet recovered. This is therefore the time to upskill, strengthen old skills and develop a business of your own to build your own security.

Your own Plan B that can eventually be your Plan A.

2. Entrepreneurial mind

A typical entrepreneur has an appetite and hunger for risk and being able to survive in uncertainty. Therefore, as the economic growth in the world is cautious, entrepreneurs are comfortable in this space and are actually motivated to develop and build new businesses.

An entrepreneurial mindset is not fazed by the current climate, as they are conditioned to work and think out of the box anyway.

3. Through adversity comes opportunity

One of my favourite sayings!

Business is always about a problem. You providing what people want. Currently there are a lot of problems, and a lot of gaps in the market.

Some may say that it is almost a perfect time to attempt to fill those gaps – however big or small; however simple or complicated.

We are going through a big system change so there are plenty of opportunities out there. Go and find them!

4. Developing the new ‘norm’

Most companies have had to adopt to the new way of working. Remote working, digital systems, virtual meetings, managing teams remotely to name a few!

By developing and launching your business within this time, you will be a step ahead of the rest- and this will be a factor in your success. Your results will be faster than existing businesses who are still trying to adapt.

5. Living your purpose

Not everyone wants to be an entrepreneur, nor can hack the lifestyle. However, if you have had a desire to do so, after the last year confirming to live our best lives in purpose – this is it!

After a forced reflection on our interests and goals, now is a good time as any to fulfil them. Research what has been going on in the world of business in the last year. What areas are growing? How are they growing? How will YOUR purposeful business idea fit in?
